the time has come to bare
what my heart has longed
to tell you
though i have felt it all
from deep shame
to exhilarating freedom
the new realization
is for him
it is for the one who tested
refused at first
to concede
that my words were true
as none before had ever been
in the end
you did stand up for me
protected my name
and reputation
kept me on track
as much as i would listen
in confusion
anger would emerge
as the victor
sheer exhaustion
launching tirades and tears
you still make sure
i'm not alone
when i'm not okay
i think of you
in such a different way
but why at all?
i don't know you
maybe some day
if you wish it
thank you for belief
and being so smart
to see past silliness
and mistakes
if that is because
i did the same for you
so long ago
it is my pleasure
for i would not be
who i am
nor would i be
that beautiful future being
if not for your faith
you have not failed
you have not been wrong
it is i who have tested
in return
how much you could take
of my failure
i promised to show you
and not be afraid
respect is strong now
that i have shifted perspectives
i don't need to be
front and centre
to convey

Very heart felt poem. I like the emotion it ellicits from the reader.

I really dig this phrase from the poem:

"anger would emerge

Anyone that's felt utter heart break understands this. Been there, done that.
