Paramount has announced a street date delay for its HD DVD releases of 'Into the Wild' and 'Things We Lost in the Fire,' pushing both titles back to early March.

As we've previously reported, the studio originally announced the two HD DVD releases for February 12, day-and-date with their standard DVD counterparts. This new street date bump will now see all versions of the two films hit store shelves three weeks later, on March 4.

No reason was given for the delay, but specs remain unchanged for both titles, with each including 1080p video and Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 Surround tracks. Previously announced extras include multiple making-of featurettes on both discs, and deleted scenes on 'Things We Lost in the Fire.'

The suggested retail price also holds steady at $39.98 a pop.

You'll find complete disc details for 'Into the Wild' and 'Things We Lost in the Fire' linked from our HD DVD Release Schedule, where the two titles are now indexed under their new date of March 4.

Might have something to do with Blu-Ray kicking HD-DVD's ass. Clearly this war is dead.

Paramount and Universal are the only studios that release HD-DVD. Everybody else has sided with Blu-Ray, and seeing as Warner just invoked their get out clause and jumped ship to side with Blu-Ray, maybe Paramount are thinking of doing the same thing

It's tough to say. Microsoft is on the HD-DVD wagon. They never fail. They will do anything in their power, even buy out any Film Studio, just to continue supporting the HD-DVD. They won't make that format die.

I wished Into The Wild came out for Blu-ray though. Cause once Walk Hard comes out, it will be available only on Blu-ray. Plus the old releases by Pearl Jam are on Sony (c) will be only for available for Blu-ray.

    Only time will tell ...
