My: "You Are" Anime Music Video

So finally I'm done with my music video project to the song
"You Are". It didn't take as much time as i expected it would.
But still it was a lot of work, especially the compress-decompress thingy. The final video file was about 2,6 GB huge and I had to find a codec which converts those gigs of bytes pretty much lossless.
Well...as always DivX was the right decision but still the vid had a filesize of almost 100MB. Half of the size would be okay for a music video so I decided to use 2 different versions of it.
I'm uploading the DivX version right now so I'll post the link to it tomorrow (in Germany it's 8:20 pm right now).

The footage I used comes from one of the most popular and (in my opinion) best anime ever, Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The mpeg1 version is already up, about 50 MB of size and comes "only" in 352x240 pixels.

The "story" of the video:

I wanted to show the close relations of Shinji Ikari with the 4 women in his life.
Asuka is pretty much my favorite character of NGE, so she got the leading role in the video. ^^
But Misato, Rei and of course Yui, Shinjis mother have the same "huge" influence on the life of our young "hero".

I also tried to show the cruel influence the fight against the angels has on Shin-chan.
So I simply decided to put those somewhat "disturbing" images in the project that are shown to the audience when EVA Shogoki berserks.
Since the soul of his dead mother Yui is forever "lost" in the Evangelion, Unit 1 takes over the part of Yui Ikari at the same time.

(I copied that one from animemusicvideos.org, you may visit the site, it is an awesome archive of music videos, I think there are already some PJ songs used.)

Just scroll down to the bottom and click either "direct" for the smaller or "local" for the bigger version.

i fullscreened the mpeg on wmp.

i've never seen NGE but the video was class, some scenes cut fast like the action sequences over the guitar but the flashes from face to face worked so well..

what did you use to put it togetehr?

I always use Adobe Premiere and After Effects (<-not this time) for video editing, the programs are class!

OBC - i am so grateful that you posted this for us. I have been thinking about it periodically since your poll.

to be honest, it is even more amazing than i had originally imagined it could be. the last minute or so was my FAVORITE. the juxtaposition of the scenes chose and how you edited them with the music is phenominal.

have you created others? i'd be really interested to see them if you have.

And yes I already have created some of those videos.
But I don't know if you'd like them as well, they are not to PJ songs, all to AFI songs. But in the near future there'll be at least one more PJ related videos to other Animes.
I thought about one to "Grave of the Fireflies" featuring Insignificance, those two elements would fit very well I think.
I'm kinda in love with video editing, but of course I have to learn a lot more till I'm able to compare myself with the real big fishes in editing.

I'm working on a little "mini-project" to MFC right now, I just start working without a real concept and as of now it seems to be better than expected. Maybe I'll release it. I'll see ^^

I liked the save you video but not the others, the songs are like cheap new hardecore-pop punk songs (like blink 182) i mean they sucks! Anyway the anine are greats, and i also like the original nme or whathever the name. Anyway great job send more.
1 question who made the drowings? I mean you didn't they are from the original anime, you made the cut? Sure you did but so i don't understend you are a great director why don't you create your own caracters, an' your own anime, with your own characters?

The Anime was already there of course.
Creating an Anime or creating those videos have not very much in common. I do not have the money or the talent to create an Anime by myself believe me ^^.

I finally had a chance to download the other three videos. I have to say that I am really amazed at what you've put together. You have a real knack for editing in such a way that the anime often syncs up with drum beats or changes in the melody. Its awesome!

My favorite of the other three you posted (You Are goes without saying ) is the one for No Hero. Not only did you sync the anime with the changes in the melody BUT you really captured the tone with your scene selections, imho. Great job all around.

Did I read one of your other posts correctly? Are you really working on one for MFC? Will it have the Untitled bit with it as well? That is one of my all time favorite things to hear played live "lets get out of here, get out of here fast"........mmmmmm that whole untitled bit is like a prayer of sorts for me. OOPS - tangent all about me. So SORRY about going off topic, this thread is ALL ABOUT YOU as it should be.

In any case with or without the untitled bit - I hope you'll decide to let us have a peak when you've finished your next video.

Unfortunately I don't have that much of time for working on video projects, but I already have enough new material for a new project. I only have to pick a song, a title and of course a story board.
