girl on a hilltop

wrapped around those tiny fingers
was a single blade of grass
that entwined with each soft slender digit
the end between her lips...
her almond eyes gazed at the sunset,
at the sky so rich with light...
but the wind picked up and changed,
making her hair wild with passionate fury,
dancing like wild indians around a tribal fire,
it directed her toward the east...
the wind's taking her east...
the wind's taking her east...

the west fades to night...
