breakfast table in an otherwise empty..........

subtle breakfast nook sighs of hinting sadness
breaths of despair and groans of stress
my mother sat in her old wooden chair
and breathed slowly between sips of her coffee

love that is lost can be found again
but she can't see that far through her aging eyes
and although she feels that she just wants to quit
that's when she sees herself in her children's eyes

her flowers, her wind through the trees
that's me
that's them
that's the world

crawling and climbing
through webs of disbelief
of where her life did go
of where her dreams did run away to

but love that is lost can be found again
and eyes that are blind can learn to see...

my mother, my sadness,
my pillar of strength is weakening...
so i shall be hers...

  • You're on a roll, creatively, Jessie. It might be interesting for you to explore the consciousness of the mother more and more in future pieces. It's a difficult subject but your ability to express it will pay dividends to your obvious talent. Thank you for sharing this.

to provide strength for someone else
will provide the strength for you too
so grab the dinner off the shelf
and give your poor mother a little rest
The most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway, is that its you, and that you're standing in the doorway.

I write down good reasons to freeze to death in my spiral ring notebook. But in the long tresses of your hair--I am a babbling brook.

get a smile on her face......it's so difficult when they get to that stage.....I took my dad to see Jack Nicholson films that were too loud for him on the bus....when he was in the late stages of dementia.....and then I took him in a cab to see some music and we had a beer and snax......I tried to make it easier for him.....how could it be easier.....?
....they're asking me to prove why I should be allowed to stay with my baby in Australia, because I'm mentally ill......and they think I should leave......
