the thing you said you were afraid of

it wasn't the darkness
or open spaces
or tall bulldings
or crowded streets

it was being average
and wanting what others want-
family, friends, security, happiness, love

so you ran from them
shunned your family
ignored your friends
lived recklessly
sought therapy, then didn't show up
and you turned away from me,
even in your sleep,
curled into a ball upon yourself
and made me irrelevant

but at 2am when no one is watching
you call
and ask me why those things scared you so
and my answer is always the same

because they represent the possibility of loss,
of loving and waiting for the pain to start

and that's something that scares you even more

    yep yep

    know this one ;)
  • this is a beautiful poem..! profound for sure and the verses flow very smoothly..

ignorance is bliss, i know from experience, but love is sublime, if one dares to care.
we don’t know just where our bones will rest,
    to dust i guess,
forgotten and absorbed into the earth below,..

This is really good. It's a shame, but to be open to life you have to be willing to get hurt. This reads really well. you should do something with it.

You’re on the outside, never bound by such a spell.

This is very good...I think we probably all know someone like that...
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!
