(I've posted this before, but this one bears repeating)

May the road be free for the journey
May it lead where it promised it would
May the stars that gave ancient bearings
Be seen and still understood

May gardens be wild like jungles
May nature never be tamed
May dangers make of us heroes
May fears always have names

May the mountains stand to remind us
Of what it means to be young
May we be outlived by our daughters
May we be outlived by our sons

May the bombs rust away in the bunkers
And the doomsday clock not be rewound
May the solitary scientists, working,
Remember the holes in the ground

May the knife remain in the holder
May the bullet stay in the gun
May those who live in the shadows
Be seen by those in the sun.

Life is the riddle
Of which we're caught in the middle.
A couple of lucky ones
Tangled up in too much love

  • Thanks, Collin. I also posted it on the MT, but they're too busy bickering & bitching to take a moment to read it.

Yeah, I saw it there first. But somehow I feel people will turn that thread into a battlefield. At least here, people can read it and enjoy it, and like it for what it is and means...

Instead of a thread about a Iraq, Bush etc. I just hope the poem is not wasted on most of them.
    THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

Yes, well, naturally, know1 had to say something sarcastic about my praying. As if sarcasm was a real contribution to the thread. I doubt he even read it, poor bastard. I posted it there because it has political references, I think, about war and poverty, and while I do expect that there will be some back & forth, I just really wanted to share it with everyone and give them food for thought. Maybe with food in their mouths, they'll shut up for a few minutes. :D

Sorry to disappoint you, but I was being sincere. It was you who introduced sarcasm to that thread.
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.

What can be sarcastic about posting a poem?

Good question! I thought it was a great prayer, personally.

It doesn't really matter whether it's a prayer or a poem or both, it's the message that's important.
    THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

Very nice poem! Thanks for posting it! :)
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!

I first heard this prayer/poem when our r.e teacher read it to us, then again at school mass. Love it.
