"Seconds"
By David Tupper

Rewind

Seasons to months

Months to weeks

Weeks to days

Days to hours

Hours to seconds

Seconds..

It’s amazing what can happen in

Such few precious seconds

For one second you are you

By yourself

Just living life

You think your happy

You are happy to a point.

But deep inside your alone.

Just trying to reach an end

To get to the next step

Where you feel everything will come together.

Another second passes

She walks by

She looks at you

You stare back

Struck by the undertow of something real

Of beauty

Of something of meaning

And fullness

Another second passes

A second of a beginning

He does something silly

She laughs

You talk

Her voice like an angel

They drive to the beach

And walk the sands

Footsteps beside each other

Hearts hand in hand

Another second passes

The second of truth

He walks out

Into the ocean water

She follows

And he takes the chance

He pulls her under

They begin to dance

They go home

And in that night

They both scream yes

This is right

Another second is here

And they are in love

He knows this

For he sees it in her eyes

Her smile

The way she moves

With him under the harvest moon

They dance to the song

That they feel will never end

A timeless melody

That will always mend

For the seconds have passed

And the song has skipped

She falls from his arms

She lost her grip

He tries to catch her

As he dances alone

Waiting for the moment

That she will come home

In his heart

Which will never be far away

He just hopes she will come back and stay

He traces his footsteps back to the beach

Looks for footprints

For what they became

But the tide has rolled in

Along with the pain

He waits for the tide to move back out

Hoping the footprints are still there

Side by side

He hopes the melody will continue in time

For he is dancing

To the seconds left in time.

  • This was sad but I enjoyed it. :) You can easily picture the story unfolding.
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen
  • i reall enjoyed that

    thanks
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key

That was good...and sad...I wish they could find each other again.
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!
