I was about to close doors, outside, a small group of young peoples joking, talking loud. One of them smiled to me. I wandered why, wandered what was wrong. No reason why any one should notice me, let alone show interest. I’m the subway driver, isolated in my compartment. Found myself closing doors, heading to next station, in the dark, thinking that smile was definitly for me, no matter who, or why, and I did not answer! As the train kept rolling in the dark, I hoped it would still be close enough to midnight by next sation…
    You write poignant and beautiful pieces, including this one. I didn't sense the chaos that could be at public transportation stations, I really sensed how life flows.
