A Few Requests

I think when I lie down finally
I shall want to be surrounded by plants;
Houseplants and a few exotic desert flowers,
Perhaps.
And fishbowls with colorful fish
Wagging their little fishy tails,
Drifting serenely into the glass occasionally.
And I will want those people that have loved me
To come sit and chat
And they may weep if they want I won't stop them
But I'd prefer to talk about the old times
And what they are going to do with the rest
Of their precious waking days.
And maybe if I'm well enough
We'll all watch one of my favorite movies
And I'll say all the lines before they happen.
I also hope someone brings a dog that I can pet.
And then I'll have everyone leave
Except one special person
(who may be drawn from a lottery;
I haven't decided that yet)
And I'll hold their hand
And ask them
If they think fireworks are exciting
And just what do dreams mean
And what's the loudest thing you ever heard
And should we eliminate parking meters
And just what are colors anyway
And when was the first time
They knew they were in love?
And then, closing my eyes,
I'll listen to their replies,
Happy that even without me
The world will be full of scrumptious questions.

    This would be an interesting--albeit confusing--poem all on it's own.

    Thanks for the imaginative reply!

    those lines do say a lot about the speaker, don't they? (who incidentally happens to be me in this poem...)

    I was wondering if anyone would think about that....

    thanks for reading it, trapped!
