For Weeks Now

The world yawns and swallows the rain
For weeks and days without complaint.
All the people and dogs squint
Through the celestial damp hint
That Spring brings spirit-soaking Hells.
Underneath the green, the earth swells.

    thanks davanita and ali....I've actually had this one around for over 2 years now...written in the wet-as-hell spring of 03....but something was always terribly wrong with lines 3 & 4....I still think they could be better, but I fixed them somewhat more to my liking today....someday I might get it exactly right....
