I hear of deep blue skies, rolling fields rich and green
The image matches up with some old movies I have seen
Somehow it feels like an ancient, distant memory
To live in a world where our happiness is guaranteed

It's all "no blood for oil" and protest songs
It's like I'm being punished, though I've done no wrong

I need a future in which today's history is simply that
Where we can live in peace and no one dies from needless acts
But I fear it's much too late to dream a world so innocent
It feels like opportunity already came and went

It's all religious fanatics and wars for God
Why should I bear the cross? I've done no wrong
It's all pre-emptive strikes and suicide bombs
And I feel accountable though I've done no wrong

Why do I get the feeling when I grow up
I'll be waving the flag, I'll be waving a gun
Wash my mouth out with soap, but this is fucked up
Daddy makes all the problems, leave solutions to the son
"We've done really well with teenage death songs." -EV

  • Good read. Thanks!
Can't you see that there's light in the dark.
Nothing's quite what it seems in the city of dreams.
