I remember back in our wilder times
Before we all went our seperate ways
We would gather by the campfire
Drinking and singing the night into day
Cranking up all the 80's hair bands
From time to time those tapes still play
And I still smile when I hear power ballads
Even though they're so passe
What good is a love song if you don't have a choice
Between making out and playing air guitar?
If you still believe that every rose has its thorn
And Love Bites is more than just vampire porn
If you still think Heaven isn't too far away
If you still think it's a shame what happened to Jayne
Have a little patience, we can play it again
As we made our way to the 90's
There were new bands we'd come to know
And every passing day we noticed
More and more of them stealing the show
And sure enough, they completely took over
Don't get me wrong, the songs weren't that bad
But it's just not the same making love to grunge
It starts out steamy, but we just end up mad
I'd rather serenade my girl in a high pitched voice
It turns her on a lot more than screaming
If you died tonight, I swear to you I'd stay true
I'd fly to the angels just to be with you
Anything just to tell you love is on the way
It might take more than words, but what else can I say?
