Lifelines

(Written five minutes ago, after listening to some Wintersleep.)

The lifelines on my hands are trickling into wrinkles
There's a maddening aching underneath my skull
I think it's from overanalyzing all I see
Until ideas fade, and thought itself is dull

So much time spent covering the greys
Obsessing over too many wasted days

But it's reassuring to remember how to smile
And it's nice to know you're still here at my side

When I feel as cold as the coffee forgotten in my cup
And my brain is telling me that I should just give up
You smile at me and remind me that I have a heart
And to me, that's reason enough to never depart.

This reminds me of the kitchen table at my grandparents house. :)

    (A nice place to be!)
