I had already said good night
I was almost asleep
But something was nagging at me
And I got back on my feet
I remembered, I had a plan laid out
To change the world for the better
So I headed on out to the living room
And watched the late game of a doubleheader

See, I care about global warming
And I want to bring the boys back home
But there are important things to do right now
Like playing poker on my cell phone
I'm well aware of North Korea
And the dropping of all sorts of bombs
I promise I'll get right on that
I just need to send this text to my mom
And tell her I won't be home for Christmas
There's a Surreal Life marathon...

(Aside:)
Can't they figure it out?
Can't they fix it themselves?
Isn't anybody scared of hell?

Man, I'd really like to help you
And you know, I really should
But I'm late for a date with Mary
Standing her up wouldn't look so good
She might think I'm getting some on the side
She sees the way Eve looks at me
So it looks like you're on your own with this one
Call me back after World War III

Or leave a message after the beep...

  • That was really cool.

Am I correct in believing that it is about how everyone has grand plans to help others but when it is time to act on those plans, they are often tossed aside for something more convenient?

Yes, it started out as exactly that. However, about halfway through, I kind of got to thinking about how people are always bitching about God and how He/She never seems to be there for us. I reasoned to myself that, if God exists, he/she's probably just lazy like the rest of us :)

    Thanks for having a look!
