you knew i was sick
-yet you judged

you knew i was hurt
-yet you mocked

you knew i was innocent
-yet you violated

you showed me places
i never should have seen.

you think i care what you think
-about me
-about anything

you think youre my god
in control of my fancies
the unattainable object of my affection

you dont understand
you can never hurt me again

you judge so many imperfections
of mine--well look at you

what are you doing?

(what are YOU thinking? remember....)

look at yourself
look in the mirror--

and i know what you see
i know exactly what you see

but i dont hate you
i dont judge you

i hope you find your peace
i believe you will--

  • This is a very emotive but sensitive treatment of a powerful theme. You write with a clear voice. The end of the poem is clever and ambiguous: the implication being that the perpetrator of the past abuse may find peace but the victim cannot, so readily.

    Thank you for sharing this.

just a little note...in case anyone is interested--this is put together with several people in mind...not just one. it probably would not make sense to anyone but me. i do that often.
