Black Rain

This is a piece I did for my Poetry 412 class at BGSU...First time I have shared anything on here:

Black Rain

A puzzlement of sorts,
which that can not be explained.
Ashes fall like snowflakes,
catch them on your tongue,
and you die.

Mutations and plague-
like results.
No worries,
death will come
unless, of course,
you grow extra limbs,
or pieces.

Outcasts, half human-
half chemical,
evil creations, chaos
grows in the city.

Children cry tears of blood,
sneeze tar and ash,
play in the rubble,
don’t forget your gasmask.

Saddening to see,
yet happy that you
are not infected,
diseased,
cursed?

No relief, but death.
I waited all day.
You waited all day..
but you left before sunset..
and I just wanted to tell you
the moment was beautiful.
Just wanted to dance to bad music
drive bad cars..
watch bad tv..
should have stayed for the sunset...
if not for me.
