Once Again

I start the day with a scream
what better way is there to wake up?
The realization of time takes effect
and blood speeds through my veins until I catch up to myself.
Even the calm days are upbeat.
Singing a song while I walk down a rainy street,
I'm almost able to appreciate life to its fullest.

Just for a second.

Drops of life falling from the heavens, not missing a soul
and reflecting the sky onto black canvases
so others can see what we're missing.

Just that second.

Trees reached up, begging the clouds for more
with bare arms and nothing to offer but beauty.
Pleading to the graveyard skies...
Cruel and unforgiving.

One.

That's all there was.
Then it was gone, rotted away with the plague of humanity.
Rust stained houses and loud, bustling cars
sending despair into my heart.
I go back to my day, busy as ever.
Starring into the sky and wondering if I could only have that again.
Just for one second...
Between the conception and the creation

Between the emotion and the response

Falls the shadow.

I started the day with someone's fingers on the back of my neck, and there was no one else in the room besides me. Well, then I guess it was time to write Christmas cards because I wasn't going back to sleep. Nice poem, though.
