Exodus

A man is surrounded
by that which can not be
Then how can it harm
what he holds most dear?
His life,
more precious than the last.

but he's still alive,
that's what matters.

the memory still haunts him
and the mind he has left.
tells himself to, "forget the past"
but his actions are louder
than the screams of history.
that stay with him,
always there.

it's not life,
but it's something like it,
and that's good enough for him.
