Oliver Dove, come give me a hug
I've spent all my money on drugs
Money can't buy you love
But money bought me Oliver Dove.

Hippos and tigers unbalance my lands
As I tiptoe through the ungritty sands
Black and blue, these colors dot my eyes
Watch intently as the night owl cries

Oliver Dove, come give me a hug
I've spent all my money on drugs
Money can't buy you love
But money bought me Oliver Dove.

Blacklight dreams and lavalamps taunt me
Whispering sounds chattering where I cannot see
The stars they brighten my blue southern sky
Young men can't stand to lose their self pride

Unbeckoning thoughts rattle my mind
Already misconstrued by my own kind
All these lies, and who can I trust?
Not even myself, as my mind begins to rust.

Oliver Dove, I don't want your love
But I can't push you away, Oliver Dove
I've spent all my money on drugs
I wish I could simply get a hug.

I wrote this awhile ago. I liked it a bit, and decided to post it to get any feedback from it. Comments welcome. Thanks.

  • heavy, yet beautiful. it shows the confusion, troubles, and desperation of a drug addict in a way that people can easily relate to.
