For Anne..

With Annie gone,
Whose eyes to compare
With the morning sun?

Not that I did compare,
But I do compare
Now that she's gone
It doesnt hurt.... when I bleed
but memories...they eat me
I've seen it all before,...
bring it on cause I'm no victim.

Suzanne....jus becoz ah Suzie and teh oranges.....who that was so bad@!!!! (Suzie was nearly raped in King's College Hospital when we were nurses.....shortly after.....I was gonna meet my natural mother who had me when she was 21.....but I got pregnant and had a breakdown......and an abortion.....and then pretty soon.....I was w3alking up borough high street after meeting teh guys with teh oranges at teh elephant and castle.....those were teh bad years.....my friend Christine who was a manic depressive witch loved Leonard Cohen.....but even tho he's Jewish, I think he sux......Nick Cave is jus so much fuggin better!!!!!!)

    Suzanne takes you down to
    her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body
    with your mind.

    And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
    From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
    But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
    Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him
And you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you'll trust him
For he's touched your perfect body
    with his mind.

    Now Suzanne takes your hand
And she leads you to the river
She is wearing rags and feathers
    From Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
    While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that you can trust her
For she's touched your perfect body
    with her mind.
....they're asking me to prove why I should be allowed to stay with my baby in Australia, because I'm mentally ill......and they think I should leave......

    yep, I love suzanne too.

    suzanne holds the mirror . . .

there are children leaning out for love

they will lean that way forever

(that's what I think of today when I think of suzanne -- it's amazing which lines become the ones I focus on as I get older. I've loved that song so for so long.)

Thanks ISN. I'm going to work.

"get wrok to come to you......."

    sometimes it does

what I think is interesting is the line from your poem:

    "Not that I did compare,
    But I do compare"

and the line from your post:

"my friend Christine who was a manic depressive witch loved Leonard Cohen....Nick Cave is jus so much fuggin better"

    That's interesting.

And that you would post a song by Leonard Cohen while remembering Christine, when you prefer Nick Cave; that's very I don't know, more than nice.
