but unequal in feelings and intentions

hellos and simple gestures have become sacrements
standards to be lived by
universal without objection
opposition suppressed
sentiments mean nothing
forced lust prevails despite sanctity

choices have become demands
democratic only in name
stalinist in the flesh
picturing freedom in chains
a love proclaimed
that pleased the flesh
while a soul has been violated
