Dearly Departed

Driving around dreaming, its 7:21 and I'm late
Opening and closing my eyes tempting fate
It’s a wonder I haven't crashed or collided
But as I wonder, I wonder, is it already too late

Taken back through the streets I would not have driven
Far from my date, as I still feel I'm living
I see family and friends, memories and visions
Of the past of the present of the now, or the tripping?

Walking, driving, I'm now walking with Nan
Walking through streets, hiking hills over land
I take off in front to clear a path, fill the mind
But in seconds Nan's with me, she’s with me the whole time

At the top of this hill
A small car, no frills
Envelops ourselves
As Nan takes the wheel

I see a face in the rear view, so I turn for a clear view
A hologram or ghost, my hand moved straight through
This cousin halfhearted, and if not for Nan
We’d be dearly departed, or maybe I am
