60s Music

Hello folks,
Here's something I just wrote. Hope you enjoy it!
60s Music
Wearing my black glasses
And hair unbrushed
I’m writing songs for you
Some songs of love
I like the 60s
Music was simpler then
More melody driven
That’s where I begin
I take three chords
And work them up
Into a rhythm
That sounds like love
I then add Ringo
Who owns the skins
I love 60’s music
That’s where I begin
The brass comes next
No, not anymore
I’m fuckin sick of it
It’s growing old
I sing soft and slow
Almost in baritone
The crowd goes silent
And I am alone
I try to capture
That 60’s sound
The sounds of summer
The jukebox plays
Makes children dance
And women scream
Buddy Holly
Lives in me
Here's something I just wrote. Hope you enjoy it!

The stage went dark for all three. They marked the official death of the fifties.
Oh here and there are bands that make women scream and here and there are bands that own a stage and still appreciate sunglasses at night...
But melodic rock appears to be on the wane... I would agree. Ringo can STILL play, though he chooses not to... I saw his All Star Band last year, with Howard Jones on keyboards.. HOWARD JONES. great 80's guy, that.
HELL, this year he's got Colin FRICKIN' HAYE on guitar... I wish I'd seen him. I loved Men At Work... 80's melodic rock.
Rock and roll was in it's teens in the 60's. It was growing wild and rebellious and finding it's place in the world and realizing how big the world was and what a task it would be to flesh out and to fill it. The biggest bands, some of them were their own casualties... The Beatles, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin... even the Lovin' Spoonful didn't make it past 1969. And they were great.
What I wouldn't give for a band of the likes of the Moody Blues to appear today, just good solid progressive rock that is way ahead of its time.
Oh now we do have our bands that push the envelope and they are all pretty damn good... Pearl Jam who refuses to give up the classic rock tradition and are the LAST classic rock band, in my opinion. Wilco who brings in the mix of Johnny Cash and the Beatles rolled into one band. REM, who somehow survives and is still one of the best songwritten bands ever, still goes out and KNOWS how to create modern melodic pop. Radiohead CONTINUES to break ground and/or refine and beautify where others have been and merely scratched the surface of sound.
There are othes but at this time of day it is those 4 that come to mind... I'm sure I'll add to this post later.
DAMN YOU FOR WRITING THIS POEM... lol... it makes me blather on and on...
needless to say, I liked it. Thanks.
