COUNTRY SECRET #286
At Summerhill Road
The middle of nowhere
Sharp grass bends at 45 degrees.
Nature has tied down everything there
To cope with the restless winds.
At Summerhill road
There’s an old wooden bridge
Sheltering a fertile gully.
Among the dust
Below the winds
Lies this silent oasis.
Sunflowers the size of paper plates
Strain their necks towards the sun.
Meters away the water’s so clear
Broken reeds seem to float
In the air.
A white gumtree guards the riverbank,
Asleep on its feet.
Familiar voices echo
From under the bridge.
Summerhill roads total 200
In this beautiful land of ours.
No fewer than 25 of these
Have creeks crossing them and
Running alongside.
No time would be considered a waste
Travelling the country
To find this magical space.

so I'll clap louder than a
cow gate.....
being banged....I'll clap louder
than thunder
and, still,
I wonder
where is Summer Hill?
