I wait anxiously for the times when lightning will fill the sky.
On those nights I sit and watch the dark clouds roll past.
The wind, whipping trees around like willow branches.
Streaks of light splitting the air.
Hair stands on end, I feel it in my core, the moment before it strikes.
And then... for one instant, beauty beyond imagination.
Night turns to day.
I wish there were a pause button for life.
To stay in that one frame forever...
Then the big bass drum in the sky roars.
A deep rumble that vibrates every molecule.
Alluding to my insignificance?
Or assuring the existence of the good shepherd?
Rain begins to fall.
Each drop on a mission to cleanse the land.
It is wet and cool but there is warmth in its purpose.
Removing the dust, refreshing the earth.
How simple nature can be,
and yet, nothing else could comfort this heart with more sincerity.
The storm may arrive in silence or with all ferocity,
but it always transports me to limitless serenity.
i wish i was the verb "to trust" and never let you down
