a poem

You’ve killed something
that had yet been given no chance to truly be
You’ve thrown kindred souls apart so unceremoniously,
Souls who sought naught but warmth, love, no charity…
Now they are swept under the rug to be forgotten
To be trodden on, like so many beautiful things
Beautiful fluttering things that were never meant to live long
Or so it seems
And thus another light is put out
Yet another sorry scene
And we are here to spread the love
Or so I believed
Maybe I was wrong, a fool deceived
A fool to believe it could be different.
