2008 tour bootlegs, best sound ever?

I've just recieved my package of 2 new 2008 bootlegs and on the basis of the first two tracks of the washingotn 06/ 22 one these seem to sound the best ever sonically.

They're loud, got nice reverbs on to really bring out the live sound and sounds like plenty of crowd noise although I'm yet to get to a big singallong. All these little things really help transform a good live recording into a great one. Just waiting till I put it on my goos stereo so I can see if Stone gets buried in the mix as he often does. But these really sound good. Full loud and live sounding

Anyone agree?

  • Prepare for a bunch of "WTF" replys on this. LOL! The sound quality, recording process, and EVERYTHING else about the boots has been criticized to death around here recently. It's really a personal preference though, and if you enjoy it, that's all that matters.

Some people forget that we used to have to pay between 20-50 bucks for terrible audience recordings from bootlegers.

The official boots aren't perfect, but nothing in life is.

The MSG shows sound great to me. Just took MSG 1 on a roadtrip this past weekend and thought it sounded as good as any shows I own. Maybe I got lucky and the MSG shows were better than the rest.

While I agree it's better than paying $50 for those "bootleg" bootlegs, the 2008 official tour bootlegs are not as good as the 2003 series.

For me I would rank the "official series as such"

    1.) 2003
    2.) 2000 North America I & II
    3.) 2008
    4.) 2000 European tour

I personally do not think that they are as goods as '03 and '06. However, I am not complaining, as many others have. I am just happy that they are made available to us. For that, the 10C should be given thanks.

The sound gets better through the tour. One of the issues I have with one of the first few shows is that throughout the boot, you can barely hear the crowd. Then the encore break the crowd is super loud and the song starts and the crowd is inaudible again. Either leave the crowd at one level, or if you have to, fade the volume up or down. Don't just make 200% louder or quieter between tracks.

All in all, I'm fairly happy with them.

I got Hartford and Camden 2, and I think both sound great, except in Camden 2 Mike is a little quiet.

    They're loud

How is that a good thing? Some people prefer dynamics in their music, and use something called a volume knob.

Past bootlegs were plenty loud, but these boots go way overboard. The bass is also exaggerated because of the extreme loudness.

I think the mixing is okay, but the sound quality is terrible.

I'd agree with this too, but I think the 00 are about even with the 08's
