In my dreams,
You lay your head in my lap
And ask for forgiveness
So your soul can be free.
I kiss your forehead,
Smile upon your questioning face,
And I tell you, softly,
To forgive yourself.
You lay your head in my lap
And ask for forgiveness
So your soul can be free.
I kiss your forehead,
Smile upon your questioning face,
And I tell you, softly,
To forgive yourself.
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen

Peace isn't an absolute. It isn't a cop out either. It's a case of self- understanding, working with self-comprehension of accountability for past damage. If it's real, it's not an ideal. It's precious for its fragilty. The process of self-forgiveness is all.

oh... very nice!
forgiving yourself, that can be the hardest thing
this is such an "understanding" poem, quiet wisdom sort of thing
such a nurturing love... i know this story, first hand, b.e.... there are a lot of theories on the ability to love (hence forgive) oneself and how, until a person is able, they are UNable to love anyone else for really and for true
the glory, I think... of intimate love between two people, is that we find self-forgiveness in the undauntable (word?) love of our mate. but boy howdy... if we're closed off to the love, or god forbid, blind to its existence... then both participants in said love are in deep doo doo, for sure....
a giving, refused, is rejection... and binds souls on both sides
hugs
I respectfully disagree. True love is selfless and has nothing to do with ones feelings about one's self. While it mat be true that loving (forgiving) yourself is extremely important to a full relationship, I have seen one or two examples of wonderful loving relationships involving someone who does not love themselves. It's not perfect but it is real none-the-less.
Peace Out
see what i mean?
i'm not sure we are in disagreement at all
but there is a forward progress in this
