Arteries

I wonder how truly happy,
One can be,
Sending sons and daughters,
To annihilate, sons and daughters,
On comes the slaughter.
Father? of a nation?
Nuturing? and enlightening?
Feeding fears,
Creating tears,
Education creatively concocted,
Flocks follow along,
Singing your song.
Pipelines for oil? What? Alternatives?
Environmentally friendly? Liberating?
Democracy? Demockery!
And so many looking for answers,
So easily distracted,
So easily sated,
So easily entertained,
So easily diverted.
We not so long ago cheered,
As the walls came tumbling down.
Yet, walls are being erected in another town!
This is NOT okay!
We need to be the heros today!
We ARE the people!
Shouldn't it be for the people?
Do we the people want to see
Murder? Innocence lost? Mass destruction?
The rich get richer?
Corporation? Corpseration!
And the wallets get fatter.
And the pockets fill the brain.
It's easier to avert your eyes,
Open your palm
Sundays you look your best,
Dressed in the slickest black,
Just like your heart!
I'm blinded by it's darkness.
Was it always that way?
I wonder if there ever was,
A sweet and pure and true,
Child, ever inside you...
When did you sell your soul to the money?




I wrote this last night and I think it's really cool to see that El Kabong has made his way back to the board and that he is posting poetry! :) YAY! So, I'm glad that this piece is politically charged as it seems so very fitting here today. :)

    BE....this poem is amazing. Speak so truthfully of what our world is like right now and we can can only wonder where our fate lies in the days and years to come.

    Having lost someone very dear to me in the war and having a few friends still in Iraq or on their way home, (and thankfully that they are alive and unharmed) brings our situation only closer to my heart.

    Your writings never cease to amazing me.

    Throughout the course of our lives,we will meet many great people. Friends, family, strangers who somehow cross your path and enemies; they all have something to teach you. Some will leave deep footprints and others will not. Just be sure to wipe your feet before you step into someone's heart.

    I am impressed when I see people who actually believe in voting for a candidate that isn't endorsed by the corporate wigs.

    A lot of the people who post are to scared to vote for change, just the evil of the lesser and they think this qualifies as democracy!
