Life

both, by Emily Dickinson
XXVI
"I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us--don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.
How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!"

In keeping with a promise to myself to read more published poetry, I'm reading Emily Dickinson: Selected Poems. Me likey the one above so I thought I'd share it with y'all.
And while I'm at it, another one kinda reminded me of my palli, PastaNazi, so, I'm posting it as well.
XXV
"I asked no other thing
No other was denied.
I offered Being for it;
The mighty merchant smiled.
Brazil? He twirled a button.
Without a glance my way:
'But, madam, is there nothing else
That we can show today?"

Hope y'all enjoyed 'em too!

Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen

I so relate to Miss Dickinson, it's scary.
She so insightful, so full of imagery, and yet her words aren't pretentious.
The risk I took was calculated, but man, am I bad at math - The Mincing Mockingbird
Ms. Haiku, I have to agree, from what I have read--she really speaks to you as you read, I find. I like that.
But if you're gonna do something, do it right. There's a lot of wannabees out there.
I'm curious, ETE, what is it that doesn't appeal to you about her poetry??
And LOL! There's a lot of wannabees everywhere! And people seem to buy into it so, guess that's why they don't see anything odd about it. I can't see why people don't just wannabe what they be and let it be but hey, what do I know?
