Your shoulders are so very cold,
like an icy chain-link fence.
SO COLD!
my tongue sticks
and I can only chew my words.
The winter moon
beams a small window of hope
in my heart;
that if I were to touch your hands,
the same cold that inhabits your shoulders
would burn right through my very core,
and French-kiss my soul.

    I'm so in love with this line!!! :)

    very good job, again, BE!!! :)
    "Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."
  • Thank you, eMMI-lou! :) I love that line too--I've actually used it before and sometimes, it just finds its way into my mind and I have to put it to page. :)

    like Ferlinghetti's "blind breasts"...

    my knives and fruit, lol...

    I sometimes wonder if we don't keep using these lines in an attempt to say perfectly what it is we see or feel.

    nice one, love
  • :) {{{{eMMI-lou}}}} (a hug pour vous) :)

    Ya know, PN, I think you're right! Some lines or phrases are just so perfect that you easily remeber them. The temptation to reuse them is just too great because there really is no other way to say it that would express what you're feeling as perfectly as that particular line or phrase. :)

    Thanks for reading ladies! :) Hee Hee! Pasta, "knives and fruit"---for some reason I'm thinking "tornado juice"... :p:p;)

    The winter moon
    beams a small window of hope
    in my heart;

    These are my favourit lines of the poem. So often I look up at the moon and realize there's so much more for me to look forward to in life.

    Well it seems so real I can see it
    And it seems so real I can feel it
    And it seems so real I can taste it
    And it seems so real I can hear it
    So why can’t I touch it?

    Thanks for sharing :)

    ever read a phrase or stanza and you could just jump out of your skin wishing that you'd had the heart/mind to have come up with it yourself?

    always happens when i read my beloved be.

    "When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore...." :p Yeah, I love gazing at the moon too, definitely makes you realize there's a whole lot out there to discover! :) Oooo, and the Buzzcocks lyrics there, mmm, I like that song!! Thanks, coach! :D

    :o Aww shucks, coleeny beany...I'm truly flattered because I think that although you second guess your writing, it's very lovely and really, I wish I could capture moments, feelings...as eloquently as yourself. :) You really need to keep up with your writing, even if you don't share here, don't let that light grow dim--keep it burning bright!!! I think it's a real damn shame if you let it rust. *smoochers for yooooouuuuu* :)

    This is really good BE, I just love the way you word things... :)
