He teetered and tottered
between right and wrong,
for so long,
he forgot the song.

He'd wear the armour.
He'd draw the sword.
He'd slay the beast.
The maiden's reward.

There's a fine line walking
between here and there,
it's so fine,
he crossed it in time.

He chased the dragon.
He chased the dragon.
He chased the dragon.
And he got burned.

He was lost in the space
between life and death,
for so long,
he's just another sad song.
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen

Just curious if this has anything to do with Beowulf -

    Good one BE!
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!
  • Hey, ETE! :) Nope, I'm not familiar with Beowulf. But I'm curious to know who this Beowulf character is now. I was just checking out this site: http://www.lone-star.net/literature/beowulf/ - take a look and let me know if this is what you were talking about. I'm intrigued by the story of this great Scandinavian warrior. Thanks, it'll give me something new to read on my lunch break. :)

    twin1, glad you liked! :)

tchaliz, my hero, well, is really no hero at all really, maybe in his own mind...My poem isn't literal but I don't want to tarnish any meaning you get from it in thinking it is because it's about what you feel after you read. Take from it what you want! :) One can take it literally or as a metaphor.

Beowulf is basically what would happen if you gave jesus muscles and a sword, it was a way to introduce christianity to the warrior races

*shakes head* Jesus? In full blown armour?? Beer drinking and hell raising?? I just can't see it taking off. I can only picture "him" as a white dude with long brown hair and sandals...:p ;) LOL!
