    although some of the best poets were simply in love with themselves

    I wonder why you ask that? It's a matter of taste I guess.
    The poetry I make isn't good, but i like to try. I think poetry can be intresting even if it's lousy ; )
    And there is good poetry in here as well I know cause, i've read it.
    To worry about tomorrow doesn't make it easier,
    it only makes today worse.

    The lunatic, the lover, and the poet
    Are of imagination all compact:
    One sees more devils than vast hell can hold,
    That is, the madman: the lover, all as frantic,
    Sees Helen's beauty in a brow of Egypt:
    The poet's eye, in a fine frenzy rolling,
    Doth glance from heaven to earth, from earth to heaven;
    And as imagination bodies forth
    The forms of things unknown, the poet's pen
    Turns them to shapes, and gives to airy nothing
    A local habitation and a name.
    Such tricks hath strong imagination,
    That if it would but apprehend some joy,
    It comprehends some bringer of that joy;
    Or in the night, imagining some fear,
    How easy is a bush supposed a bear!

    Anna, I agree.

    "and what is good, Phaedrus,
    and what is not good --
    need we ask anyone to tell us?"

    Robert Pirsig, not a poet.

    I like that response though to just about anything. He's talking to himself, which is really interesting to me.

    So, yep, there is a lot of good poetry here.

    it's not important whether the poems are good or not ... poems may exist just for the sake of poets ... isn't that enough ...

    Yes there is. Why ask the question? Or was it simply rhetorical.
