Misunderstood Affection

Behold the way he caresses my loved one
And how she lovingly accepts his advance.
My heart aches with the jealous envy
Of their assumed and apparent romance.

But wait, these thoughts are lifted
Behold my poor ignorance.
That supposed love is sifted
From sands of her arrogance.

Wrote this one after a trip to Florida with the band at my school.

I saw a friend of mine suddenly sit next to a girl I had a big crush on. This was while we were on the bus, and they (I thought) sat together the whole way back home. Come morning, I learned she had asked him to sleep on the floor so she could have two seats to herself, which made me happy, interestingly. Isn't it a shame that I felt jealousy when she didn't like the guy, but I thought she did?

No matter how hard I try, it seems like I can never overcome the predetermined boundaries of my human nature. Jealousy, avarice, pride, etc. We all feel them, and there's nothing we can do about it...
