    Between the conception and the creation

    Between the emotion and the response

    Falls the shadow.

    Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
    jack frost nipping at your nose
    yuletide carols being sung by a choir
    and folks dressed up like eskimos

    everybody knows the turkey and some mistletoe
    are there to make the season bright
    tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
    will find it hard to sleep tonight

    and they will jump all over Aunt Maria
    and they will beg and beg to open all the presents
    and flour will be flying all over the place
    as we make cookies
    while watching if
    reindeer really know how to fly

    and so, I'm offering this simple phrase
    to kids from 1 to 92
    all though it's been said
    many times many ways
    "Merry Christmas to You!"
