daughter she is to me,
so fast has the time gone by,
daughter she allows me to call her

her goal is library science?
wants to run the world from a book lined room,
as she has a flair for making her father proud.

i know i made a difference,
reading her many books
as she would slumber off to sleep,
wondering where the wild things are...

yet secure and safely tucked away
as the sentry never slept
never slept a minute

until now
for my girl
has outlined the path
to her goal

signed by a proud dad on a cold night in kansas city
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

  • That's just SO sweet, olderman! :)

"daughter she allows me to call her" - jeez, that line kinda got me choked up--it makes me feel like it's an honour that you should be allowed to call her this and it just made my heart melt. I could feel the proud poppa shining through in this one. :):)
