lw - the real thing

she lies naked on a moonlit beach
body outstretched, the coolness helps ground the moment
with eyes shut, her thoughts burrow deep
through the sands of the past

each grain displaced helps form the well
which draws her down, and soon away
the mind, divining, seeks only
nothing
the nothing ventured
the nothing feigned

through subtle fingertips she casts the last hope
to the sea
feels the last touch, the last wave, a final tide

she has tasted a life wasted
same as it ever was, same as it ever was

it's all there ever was

(ok - I borrowed a couple of lines there - but from the best)

    interesting choice of words.

Take me to the river, drop me in the water
Take me to the river, dip me in the water
Washing me down, washing me down
