votre sourire de mona lisa

it seems like i drank all night
but really i just waited instead
walking away in space
my eyes are closed but dancing
the flickering of a nearby candle
faces fading and a mona lisa smile
wrapped around a wooden pole
telephone wires overhead
conversations about bigger dreams
everything less than passion
releasing hope and in between
scratching letters - my eyes are open
inescapable pattern of differences
singing someone else's song
wrong way turn - one way wishing well
tranquility found another path
falling stars and promises attached
for tomorrow's new hampshire sunrise
when you can give me everything
and take it all away for nothing
I'll dig a tunnel
from my window to yours

    quite nice, indeed :)
  • I like the idea of the telephone wires overhearing conversations about bigger dreams...very good! :) And man, the line "one way wishing well", that really hit me! To me, it's like a wishing well full of broken dreams this "one way wishing well"--sucking all those good wishes down into a void...I know it's dark but I like dark and that's how I pictured it. :) This was a sad and lonely poem--you expressed yourself very well! :) Thanks for sharing!
