everyday wrong number

everyday, i wake up, and
walk around the room five times
it's burning...down there
like an ant biting...biting...
the morning sun has given way
to afternoon thunderheads
and it's pounding along the
bridge of my skull...my eyes are closed

routine, typical, habit forming
everyday, i open up my phone
to dial the only number i know by heart
i hang up...before it rings
my cliche heart is pounding
try again...let it ring this time...
the anticipation mounts...
she's going to answer this time...
it's really going to happen...
"it's amy, leave a message"

..."i just wanted to say hi,
see how you were doing today.
i hope you're smiling...
and i hope you have a wonderful day...
for sure, the sweetest dreams i'll ever
dream...are for you."

everyday...to live, for someone else...

i was having trouble with the entire "piece" and, personally, hated the second stanza, but i wanted to get it down...the whole came from a much shorter thought blurb:

everyday i dial her number
everyday i hang up
everyday i call her again
everyday she's going to answer
everyday she never does

Very real,Very down to Earth.It seems like I could never do this...
I'm too comical(Sort of) as a person in relationships.Like "Animal House" relationships.Total collegiate off the wall humor.
Yet this poem is so seriously interesting.
