doing a little reading, but
you can tap me on the shoulder
cause i could use the distraction
in this race against extraction
just to turn over another boulder
only to find another door sealed up and shut
when we're sitting inside the lion's den
we've got to cover our faces
and pray to God above for saving
from a world full of misbehaving
criss-crossing different colored shoe laces
like the angels in the ghetto among the men
and it's too late to cry out
cause mama don't care about you no more
you wore out your welcome the night before
screaming and hollering about the war
a world where you can't yell and shout
without the guys in suits finding you out
it's a new ballgame this year
it's patriotic to stand and cheer
for the leader of the free world and his rear
honesty and integrity lost all the clout
but you can tap me on the shoulder
as you can see i could use a little distraction
to get me away from this extraction
of my liberties and loyalties and thought
but, we're all in this boat together
and maybe we think this is gonna be better
our lives have been sold up and bought
at the price of a penny on the lot
and it's not what it seems
your eyes have been trained to deceive
all the while our lives are under siege
but go ahead and tap me on the shoulder
as you can see i need a little distraction
on the television in the news
we get bill o'reilly's assinine views
lacking in substance and truth
it's nothing but a bunch of editorialized lies
fed to the public at large like shit to flies
it's free to them and they pretend they're
creating the jobs and strengthening resolve
when all we need to do is listen up and evolve
9/11 came and it was nothing but a double-dog dare
from inside the confines of our own walls
little boys stand on the corner playing with army dolls
wishing they could grow up to be a hero
when the threat level is always at zero
so, go ahead and tap me on the shoulder
as you can see i need a little distraction
because this world is editorializing me

this is brilliant - did you write that?
....they're asking me to prove why I should be allowed to stay with my baby in Australia, because I'm mentally ill......and they think I should leave......

This was long, but not boring in the least bit. :)

(I liked the recurring "tap me on the shoulder/cause I could use the distraction.")

it's absolutely amazing, TIR....I will have to look at you in another light from now on.....I didn't know you were capable of what's bordering on genius.....without exaggerating.....I missed it on page one, and went searching for it on page two, with a certain amount of chagrin, and the intention of bumping it....I thought maybe I was being stupid, and that it was a famous poem that I didn't know about, that's why I asked you if you wrote it....why don't you get a better title for it, and publish it?

ex libris - like the stamps on old library books - it actually means 'of the library'.....sorry if I was over the top, but I really think this is a great poem....actually I think literally it means 'from the library'......but it's the title that jumped to mind

again, thank you, very much - the title is not very indicative of the contents...i'll work on that - have a great night.
