2001 a year i remember too well
Like a mirror my face turned away
The year our youthful innocence
Like a snake was shed for all time
Our exhuberence for life lost so our ideals
A fair go not for you petty crimnial
Forefathers battled through despair, toils and snares
Only for this what would they say about our enlightment?

Locked away in the hearts of precious few
Please friend take my hand
A land of opportunity it seems by far
But behind this smoke
A river of deceit flows

No reason when we all we have to do is rhyme
The moon eclipses the sun
So we can hold our heads up high
Share the same face all printed on different pages
That is how the dice falls sometimes
Up a tree he can see the smoke
His fellow inmate
In a mansion he has his head to lay

We all want our name in the lights
Lamenting what we know should have been
We don't want to know, only pretend to care
Please let me watch the television in peace

The world is at war leaving its conscience behind
The sun battling to give its light
They must not be allowed to steal our freedom
My sins uncovered through this open door
An excorism needed
As the fox's time draws near
In many ways it has only just begun

Can't live our here
My thirst cries out to this harsh sun
This oppressed one can't remember
What we can't fathom
These lips recount his last decent meal
Not tasted since the breaking of dawn

So friend and brother
Take my hand....lets break these chains
From this life lets escape
For here we can't stay
The wind is blowing cold
Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

Feels like were all alone
Running further from what’s right
And there are no more heroes to follow

So what are we becoming?
Where did we go wrong?
