I just FINALLY saw Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" and it inspired me to write something on the spot and fairly simple. Hope you like it.....

Sweat feeds the garden
Desperate for your blood
Oh Cain what you done?
Not my will but yours be done

Came down from the clouds
Rags not riches my son
Simple carpenter who knew what you would become
Driven by love of our mother
Oh the undying love of a son

I hear my voice call out
Ashamed where is my rope?
Food for the crows you are
Come on and defend yourself
Oh with laughter I say
All hail the King of the Jews

I put that nail into your wrist
Flashbacks fleeting of days gone by
From triumphunal entry to condemnation
Like sheep we are led astray
Oh how I wish they would pluck my eyes out

You could have stopped it all
With just one word
But you cried out "Forgive them father they do not understand"
Sitting in my comfy chair can't help but be moved

Our world lives day by day
Medicrotity and violence is the way we play
But is there something bigger
Holding sway?
The wind is blowing cold
Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

Feels like were all alone
Running further from what’s right
And there are no more heroes to follow

So what are we becoming?
Where did we go wrong?

Very well written. I saw the movie as well and It moved me to the point of tears. Your poem seems to capture alot of the emotions that I was feeling when I watched it. Thanks for reminding all of us....
