You’d be surprised
if I told you about all the little leaves and petals that reach my eyes
the details, efforts, gifts I see

If we were twelve,
I know you’d bring me treasures of blue if I said it was my favorite color
you’d get a fountain pen and paper for words loyal and true because that’s-just-you

I see pieces and parts
and it’s overwhelming

Don’t you know?
even if you’d just been that man that you are,
even if you’d been selfish and lazy in that shell,
I might still have fallen down at first because when you’re near I can feel the air
the air is so hot, I feel I could melt

I truly adore the skin and the core,
how’d you get so perfect for me?!
