Dreaming of Berries

Berry Dreams

My cookbook says that berries are available all year round (depending on the variety) but that the peak season is from June to October.

The buying tips warn: “Berries should be plump, fresh looking, uniformly colored, and free of stems and leaves. Avoid crushed or bruised berries and cartons that are stained with juice. Beware of moldy fruit, because mold can spread...and DON’T BE DECEIVED by dewy-looking water-sprayed berries at the market--the moisture will only accelerate the molding and decaying of the berries."

But, I’m not afraid, I think I know how to pick out the good ones!

Aren’t they just so beautiful, colorful, sweet and delicious? Aren’t they simply great companions for so many foods?

I have recipes for strawberry shortcake, blueberry pie, raspberry cobbler, gooseberry tarts, and blackberry fritters, whips, and crepes. (There are even some desserts that need to be set aflame...but they are heavenly with whipped cream.)

We’re lucky we can go to the store and buy them, because otherwise...I’m certain I’d MISS THEM.

Dear, can’t you hop in the car and make it out here this time? All jokes aside, I really need to see you and hold your hand.

    What's the meaning of this?

It's nonsense meant for me and my favorite person. I'm sorry I don't want to explain it any further. :)
