when I’m not on the brink
of running off to hide

perhaps you don’t know
but I’m quite sure it shows

I’m far too serious to be a liar
and I don’t enjoy playing with fire

and even though it’s true
that I deeply love you

perhaps you don’t believe it
because--my home--I won’t leave it

I did that once, when it felt the same
but I sadly discovered it was his game
