Lifejackets

On a boring-but-busy-day
I was thinking about life jackets
wondering if they ever get sick-to-death of holding up tired swimmers?
wondering if they sometimes want to break a strap and let the lump sink?
like a stone
to the muddy deep
while they float off on a current alone
free from the responsibility
that body weighing 'em down
but, I suppose some might say I'm giving them too much credit
imagining that jackets have feelings and thoughts
after all, they're just safety gear
