I want to take care of your heart
keep away any lonliness that might creep in
and fight off all attackers that appear from remote parts
I want to warm those dark corners of your mind
and listen to whatever we might find

I want to hold your hand when you’re afraid
reknit you when you come untied
whatever medicine you need, I’ll bring it

(and on the days you need room, you know I can find somethin’ else to do!)

I’ll pet you when you feel tired
bring you nourishment when you’re hungry
tell you silly stories when you feel like laughing
and sad ones when you feel like crying

And on the days you just want to dream
I’ll play something lovely for you
and maybe you can nap nearby?

  • justam, that's all I want to do too!!!!! A lovely poem about love. :) Isn't that all we want, to just know that we make our partner happy...that just being there, together, is blessing enough. Now, maybe your poem isn't about loving a partner but that's what I got from it and I loved it. :)

This is from the archives. Written in January of 2006.

A bit of time has passed and now I'm living in Florida rather than Upstate NY. My kids are growing up too.

    Time..
we can't stop it from moving on!!
