Somedays I think maybe it would have easier
for everyone
if I didn’t think so much!!
If I was empty-headed
maybe I’d be easier to be with?

I could fall in love the way other people do
I could focus on my appearance
be a little living doll
think about make-up and magazines
someone who lives to be cute

Spend my time shopping for clothes
chatting on the phone
decorating my house
working out at the gym
asking for gifts from my husband
leave my brain and heart behind

i wuz diggin dirt in the backyard yesterday

getting burnt, cuz the sun is like that

missing kid's worm-diggin' fingers with the spade

a neighbor said, can't you get no help there missy?

and i replied... asking fer help's not something I do well

and I noticed another mother. down the alley

she told her husband "i'd appreciate some help, here."

and it just sounded wrong

why ya gotta ask?

my daughters were with me and my son watched tv

and everything seemed right to me
