Love Songs

So many love songs are tragic
have you noticed that?
and love poems that make a reader cry,
they’re so very sad, but not flat

The best German Lied I know
can parlyze me on the spot
being engorged with beauty
containing a true feeling of longing or regret

But how about a love that lasts?
A love that’s living and sustained,
how would a person sing about that?
Maybe it’s a dream infrequently attained?

I don’t know, but it seems like there should be more written
at least, more than I found
But, maybe people don’t like to be too noisy
in case the feeling would disappear with too many onlookers and listeners around

if i find such a love, i will sing and i don't care how noisy (or nosy they may be) my tome may be!

    excellent poem justam, excellent :)
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

    Thanks!! :)

It's funny though, I really was reading lots of German love songs today and hardly ANY of them weren't tragic or yearning.

There's a real lack of happy love songs... at least in Classical music!

yeah, classical music is pretty much 'blues' when it comes to the story behind the musical (or the opera) theme. much heartbreak unless you listen to Wagner and other nationalist, militaristic compositions.

that's my take on it. i think i'll drink another love song. :D
